The Aquanaut adventure is a series of entertaining challenges in the Aquarium’s upper levels that are both informative and exciting. There are seven different challenges, and if you complete five, you will become a certified Georgia Aquarium Aquanaut/Scientist. The Aquanaut Adventure gives you an opportunity experience the thrill as you learn, as opposed to just passively watching.
Dive with Whale Sharks
The Georgia Aquarium offers the opportunity to dive and have a close up experience with whale sharks. The dive comes with an extra cost of $ 279.95 for members and $ 333.95 for non-members. This extra cost includes equipment, certificate of participation, exclusive t-shirt, and souvenir photo. The dive takes place daily at 3 p.m. with an additional dive on weekends at 11 a.m. You will also get to view some behind-the-scenes areas of Georgia Aquarium and if you arrive before time, you will experience the AT&T Dolphin Celebration presentation. The Aquarium requires that participants be at least 12 old, have Open Water SCUBA certification, and have program liability waiver and animal interactive program guidelines signed and dated prior to participating in the program (children’s waiver and program guidelines should be signed by their parents/legal guardian). Children under the age of 18 should be accompanied by participating adults.
Sleep under the Sea
The Georgia Aquarium offers sleepovers throughout the year. The 2018 sleepovers include admission to the Aquarium on the day of your sleepover and the next day, entrance to all presentations, breakfast, guided tours and activities, and a sleeping spot in front of one of the Aquarium’s magnificent gallery windows. There is no dinner in the 2018 sleepovers, but there is a snack at bedtime. Because sleepovers are popular, the Aquarium encourages all guests to make reservations at least one month in advance. In other words, all sleepovers must be reserved and paid in full at least 30 days before the desired sleepover date.
